Shenhua signed the consortium agreement of Indonesia South Sudanese Phase II Expansion Project

Recently, Shenhua signed the consortium agreement of Indonesia South Sudanese Phase II Expansion Project with Indonesia PJB Company and Indonesia EMM Company in Jakarta, Indonesia. The agreement defined the responsibilities, rights, obligations and work scope of each party, which laid a foundation for the establishment of joint ventures and project progress.

Indonesia South Sudanese Coal Power Project is located in Muara Enim County, Sumatra Province, Indonesia, about 100 kilometers southwest from Giant Port City, the provincial capital. 2 sets of 150 MV coal-fired units were installed in phase I project, which were put into production in 2011, with an open-pit coal mine of annual production of 2.1 million tons.Phase II planned to add 2 sets of 350 mw supercritical coal-fired unit on the reserved land of phase I project, which will use low calorific value and high moisture lignite from South Sudanese region. The annual consumption of raw coal is about 5.23 million tons. The project is planned to be connected to 275 kv Betung and Muara Enim substations. The project is planned to start in 2016, and put into production in 2019.Phase II expansion project is an IPP (independent power providers) project.  China Shenhua, Indonesia PJB company (a branch company of Indonesia National Electric Power Company), and Indonesia EMM Company will establish a joint venture company to develop this project, and the shares are 60%, 20% and 20% respectively. In addition, the feasibility study report has been completed according to the application process, and the joint venture has submitted the project designation application to Indonesia National Electric Power Company.

At present, South Sudanese phase II project consortium has submitted the agreement and feasibility study report to Indonesian National Electric Power Company, as well as the project application, which marks the substantial progress of South Sudanese phase II project .PLN Company will submit the project designation application to Indonesia Ministry of Mines and Energy soon.
